Who Is Lotus Care?
Lotus Care Psychological Services was established by Dr. Alina Contino to provide Clinical Psychological Services to the greater Fayetteville and Southeastern North Carolina areas. Dr. Contino has been serving this area for over 5 years and is committed to helping the mental wellbeing of the surrounding communities of Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Moore and Robeson counties. Dr. Contino and her staff strive to provide the best psychological care possible in a safe and friendly environment for all.

Education and Work Experience
Dr. Contino holds a prestigious Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology which she obtained from Nova Southeastern University, situated in the vibrant city of Fort Lauderdale, FL. She specialized in the fascinating field of Forensic Psychology, gaining a deep understanding of the intricate intersection between psychology and the law. Furthermore, she possesses a comprehensive Master's degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University located in the bustling metropolis of Miami, FL. These high-level academic achievements have equipped Dr. Contino with a profound knowledge base and a diverse skill set, making her an exceptional professional in her field.

Within her career, she has gained valuable experience working with and treating a wide range of mental health issues. These include severe mental illness, personality disorders, trauma, Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as interpersonal loss, familial conflict, and personal stressors. Additionally, she has conducted research on the topic of intimate partner violence and its effects on individuals post-trauma. During her internship, she focused on honing her skills in group psychotherapy.

Dr. Contino, a licensed clinical psychologist in North Carolina, also holds licenses in the State of Alabama and is certified as a Health Services Provider (HSP-P) in North Carolina. In addition to her professional qualifications, Dr. Contino is a bilingual practitioner proficient in both English and Spanish, both spoken and written.
She has completed her clinical training in various community, state, and federal facilities. Additionally, she has gained experience working with the Department of Justice and conducting psychotherapy and assessment internationally. Her work involves providing these services to diverse populations, including adults, adolescents, children, and Military Veterans.

In a growing career with a diverse array of clinical experience, Dr. Contino has worked in several fields of psychological practice. Dr. Contino started her career in the social services area, where she was a protective services counselor for the State of Florida. After obtaining her doctoral degree in 2013, she worked as a Staff Psychologist and as a Supervising Drug Treatment Psychologist for a total of 5 years with the Department of Justice/Federal Bureau of Prisons, at various federal institutions. Federal duty stations serviced included: The United States Penitentiary, Terre Haute Indiana, The Federal Correctional Institution, Estill, SC and the Federal Correctional Institution, Bennettsville, SC. She has also provided operational psychology consulting services for personnel selection purposes overseas. Her treatment orientations of choice constitute: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy for the specific treatment of depression (IPT and IPTA), Time-Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy (TLDP) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for the treatment of PTSD and combat.
